Spooky Tales and Tons of Fun.

Well
Halloween is almost here. It is that time of year, when
driving down the street you see cob webs and witches hanging
from trees, there are goblins and headstones standing around
in front yards, and there is even a giant spider hanging around
the courthouse square. Kids love Halloween, and parents
must too. News reports are now showing spending trends
on Halloween related merchandise are on the rise. I think
that 9/11 has made a huge impact on what people are spending. Folks
seem to be spending more on their homes in one way or another. As
a local retailer, I think its great. I say spend, spend,
spend.
This Halloween, there are so many things going on around town, their should
definately be no shortage of fun stuff for the kiddos and the parents alike. I
know things are much different now, even from when I was a kid. It
just doesnt seem the same, that the kids are unable just to wander the
neighborhoods in search of the perfect peice of candy. Now it seems
the only way to get them out there is to take them around only to the homes
of family or folks you know and then get them home early enough for school
the next day.
So take advantage of the carnivals and festivals all over town. I know
our church offers free carnival, and numerous others do as well. I
know there are also other organizations around town that host events, so there
is bound to be something safe and fun you can get the kids to.
Just
remember a few tips if you do head off in the neighborhoods. Be
courteous, only visit the homes that have porch lights on. Be
safe, make sure your kids have on reflective clothing
or are carrying a flashlight. Be observant, check
the kids bags when they get home, make sure all candies are
prewrapped, and safe.
Lastly
as we head into the last few days of October, we know that
this year, within a few days we will be deciding the next four
years of our countries future. I ask each and everyone
of you to PLEASE GO VOTE. Do it today. This is
a crucial point in our countries history, and every vote counts. Please
do it for the sake of yourself, your family, your future. I
will not tell you who to vote for, I will simply implore you
to vote, be it with your heart, your head, whatever your
reason, just vote.
So
head to the polls and enjoy this crisp, fall weather. Until
next time... Happy Decorating.
