A Special Place was created by third and fourth generation Parker County natives Donna Couch and her daughter, Kristi Towles, to be a place where clients receive the highest quality of service in a comfortable and cozy setting.
We created A Special Place by combining our two existing businesses, The Park Bench, a gift shop Kristi opened in 1996 and Sara's Plants, a Weatherford plant business that Donna purchased in 2001. In 2002, they combined the two businesses together and changed the name to better reflect their desire to be the ultimate shopping experience, specializing in beautiful fresh and floral creations, fabulous gift baskets, and unique home decor items. You can also find yummy gourmet foods, unique candles, books and soothing bath items on hand.
In 2004, Kristi left to start another business, but still assists in special events, such as Holiday Decorating and Interior consulations. The following year, Donna's husband, Walter, retired after 30 years of firefighting and joined the business, taking on management duties and lots of "honey-dos".
In late 2006, A Special Place was invited by Weatherford Regional Medical Center to own and operate a gift shop in their facility. This has proven to be a win-win partnership for both and in 2009, Walter will be opening a gourmet coffee shop and expanding the hospital gift shop location.
